Development of Embryo and Fetus

What is an embryo-   

                                A fertilized ovem becomes an embryo after 8 weeks of fertiliztaion.

What is fetus- 

                            From 8 weeks of pregnancy to the delivery of the baby, in this period baby is called as                                     fetus in medical language.

Fertilization-  The fertilization tkes place in the fallopian tube at the ampulla,Actullay the fertilization                                 takes place at the border of amplla and isthmus, but the participation of ampulla is more                                that s why we call ampulla for the fertilization.

Implantation-   Implantation of zygote starts at 6th day after ovulation and ends at 8th day after                                         ovulation.https://amzn.to/3mqS5gO

 Before Implantation, the fertilized ovum moves from ampulla to uterine cavity during  this movement some amount of fluid enters in fertilized ovum by small pors of zona  pellucida which is made by other sperm force in trying to enter the ovum.

                                                            By the force of the fluid the dwvided cell are separated into 2 parts and makes a new structure which is called "Blastocyst". At this time an another event happens the zona layer of zygote disappear which we called "Zona Haching"

5th Week of pregnancy- 

• Double Heart chamber appers
• Heart began to beat 
• Embryo is visible on USG at 6th week 

8th week of pregnancy-

• Umblicus circulation is established
• Every system is present

12th week of pregnancy- 

• Amniotic fluid - 50ml 
• Kidney starts to make  urine 
• Heart beat can be detected by dropler transducer between 10- 12th week.
• At this age of pregnancy  fetal sex can be easily detected.

16th week of pregnancy-

• Fetal weight- 100gm 
• Amniotic fluid- 200- 400ml
• Occification of bone occurs

20th week of pregnancy-

• Amniotic fluid-400ml
• Weight-300gm
• At this age of pregnancy fetal heart sound can be detected by regular fetoscope.

24th week of pregnancy-

• Amniotic fluid is between 200- 400ml
• Fetus can Hear at this age.
• Scalp hair began to grow
• Type ll alveolar cell of lungs begin to produce surfactant.

28th week of pregnancy-

• Weight-1100gm
• Brain is developing is rapid
• Testes starts to decent toward scrotum.
• Amount of surfactant is sufficient, so if neonate born he/she can survive.

32th week of pregnancy-

• Occification of bone is completed.
• Weight-1800-2100gm
• Subcuteneous fat has collected.
• Amniotic fluid- 400-500ml

36th week of pregnancy-

• Weight-2200-2400gm
• Lanugo disapperes
• skin of fetus is pink and body is round
• Amniotic fluid-800ml

40 week of pregnancy-

• Weight-more than 3200gm
• Length-40cm
• Testes are in scrotum
• Labia major are well dwveloped
• Vernix caseosa decresed
