Every day on 12 may the nurses of the whole world celebrate this day as an international nursing day in the honor of Florance nightingale ( Founder of modern nursing).
About Florence Nightingale:- she was the founder of modern nursing, she is also the first nurse.
After helping injured soldiers under the lamplight that's why she was also known as the lady with the lamp in the Crimean war, she opened her own nursing school to train nurses.
The theme of International nursing day theme:-
Nurse- A voice to lead, invest in nursing, and respect the right to secure global health.
Every year ICN (international council of nursing) decides the theme for the day to encourage people about health and to spread awareness of the health care system and to educate nurses about their rights and professional etiquette.
History of nursing in India:-
- The first Indian nurse was Bai kashibai ganpat
- The first nursing school was opened by acharya charak in 250 BCE,
- Later on, in 1871 British government started a 6-month course for nurses and midwives but only for females.
- In 1908 TNAI ( Trained nurses association of India) is formed\
- In 1946 India s first nursing degree college was established at RAK ( Rajkumari Amritsar Kaur) collage in Delhi and Christian medical collage at Vellore.
- On December 31, 1947, the Indian nursing council is established and the Indian nursing council act. came into existence in 1948.
- A two-year master's degree course has been started at RAK college of nursing, Delhi in 1960.
On 12 May our honorable president of India gave an award named National Florance Nightingale award to Indian nurses who gave their tremendous efforts in the health sector.
